Leasing Policies
To lease, rider must be able to safely catch, lead, tack/untack, mount/dismount and W/T/C under saddle unassisted.
Leasers must have their own properly fitting tack (or pay the surcharge), grooming supplies, & basic horse care supplies
Tack
Saddle, bridle+bit or hackamore, saddle pad, half pad if needed, and girth
If schooling/competing XC, you also need: breast plate, crop, small spurs, and number pinny (competing only)
If leaser is assigned to more than one horse and chooses to have their own tack, tack can be fitted to main horse and eeea tack can be used as needed for other assigned horses. Bridles, girths, and pads can be used on multiple horses.
Grooming supplies- brushes, hoof pick, sweat scraper, shampoo, etc.
Basic care- tack cleaner, hoof conditioner, fly spray, topical cream for minor cuts
Tack surcharge (option): Leasers can choose to use EEEA tack (good for riders planning to move to another horse or purchase their own horse in the near future) for $50/month.
If using EEEA tack, tack must be cleaned a minimum of 1x/week
This applies to saddle, bridle+bit, saddle pad, and girth.
ALL leasers should have their own grooming and basic horse care supplies, regardless of if they pay the tack surcharge.
Horse maintenance
Horses leased 3 or more days/week must be seen by our chiropractor a minimum of 3x/year. Some horses may not need to be adjusted every time. If adjustment is needed, Chiro fee can be split if the horse is leased by more than one rider. Approximate cost $100 per adjustment.
Horses benefit from massage as well. Please consider getting your lease horse a massage throughout the year. Approximate cost $75-$90 per massage.
Horses are not to be ridden for more than 60 minutes per ride. This includes time on the trails, warm up and cool down. This is by no means a requirement. If your horse is doing well and you have reached your goals for the day, stop riding.
Leasers must have a set lesson day and time each week. Lessons may be adjusted as needed if horse availability allows when the schedule is set for the week.
Leasers must give their riding days for the week by the Sunday of the previous week. If the leaser does not give days, days will be assigned based on horse availability.
